Confidence Intervals in Poisson Distribution
A manufacturing process produces defects that follow a Poisson distribution. In a quality control test, the number of defects in a fixed area of material is recorded. For a sample study, 10 independent areas of material were tested, and a total of 16 defects were observed across these 10 areas.
Part a
Construct an exact 95% confidence interval for the true mean number of defects per area using the appropriate chi-square distribution. Leave your answer in terms of chi-square values.
